Irene Welburn R.B.S.A, R.O.I. 1910-2000: Old Market Hall, Birmingham (Nelson).

This work is an oil on canvas signed by the artist and annotated further verso with her signature, the title of the work and her address in Shenley, Birmingham.

Irene Welburns works are held at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Royal College of Physicians, the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.

This very important picture captures the historic heart of Birmingham before it was demolished to make way for the Bull Ring. With the recent changes nothing now remains of this area with the exception of the statue of Lord Nelson by Westmacott which sits in the new Bull Ring shopping mall.

The plinth and surrounding iron railings were lost when the statue was put into storage.
