Item Description

Neville Stephen Bulwer Lytton, 3rd Earl Lytton, Soldier, Olympic medalist, and artist. A gentleman of the old school.

Educated at Eton and the Ecole des Beaux Artes; at the outbreak of war Lytton joined the Royal Sussex Regiment, taking many of his retainers with him. He saw action on the Western Front.

Lytton exhibited widely including the Royal Academy and the Alpine Gallery.

Many of his works were acquired by the French Musee de Guerre and the Imperial War Museum.

Not only did Lytton produce many noted portraits of eminent people he also painted the famous Balcombe Victory Hall murals.
