Peter Macgregor Wilson: A well Known Scottish watercolourist and oil painter of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, Peter Macgregor Wilson painted portraits, genre scenes, landscapes, marine and animal studies. He was educated at the Glasgow School of Art and later took art training in both London and Antwerp. Wilson then resided in Edinburgh but moved back to his native city in 1882 to assume the post of President of the Glasgow Art Club. He became a full member of the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society (R.S.W.) in 1885 and maintained his standing with this prestigious association until he resigned in 1926. In total Peter Macgregor Wilson exhibited over sixty watercolours with the R.S.W., and also showed his art at both the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Royal Academy (London).
P. Macgregor Wilson travelled widely visiting North America, Europe, Arabia, India, Persia and Russia.
